2014 Tatter Scholarship Recipients

Kyle Kelley (Michigan State University)

Kyle is majoring in crop and soil sciences. This past year he partnered with a local crop consultant started a company, Greens to Go, to grow vegetables and some fruit to deliver directly to customers in a CSA-style program. Kyle hopes to expand this business upon completing his studies.

Luke Steere (Michigan State University)

Luke is a PhD candidate in plant pathology. His research is focused on developing a better understanding of soil-borne diseases in potatoes, which are a major cause of yield decline. This research has already led to the development of new precision agriculture methods for soil-borne disease prediction and management. He hopes to eventually work with potato and vegetable growers in some capacity.
