Raleigh Baehre (Michigan State University)
Raleigh is pursuing a degree in Fruit, Vegetable and Horticulture Management. She has worked on the family farm and interned as the horticulturalist's assistant at the Olde Farm Golf Course. After graduation, she plans to join the family farm full time..
Ryan DeMorrow (Michigan State University)
Ryan is majoring in Horticulture. He has worked for Cherry Bay Orchards since 2008. He plans to manage a large-scale farm using the knowledge gained at MSU.
Christopher Gottschalk (Michigan State University)
Christopher is pursuing a masters degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology. He is currently working on genetic research in cider apples. After graduation, he hopes to aid the Michigan apple industry by starting breeding program targeted at new apple varieties for Michigan.
Nicole Kaupa (Baker College of Muskegon)
Nicole is majoring in Marketing. She has experience working in an apple packing facility and at Wilbur-Ellis. Her goal is to use the marketing knowledge gained in college to continue her work at Wilbur-Ellis.
James Larson (Michigan State University)
James is pursuing a masters degree in Horticulture with an interest in tree fruit production. He has worked with Dr. Greg Lang on sweet cherry physiology. After graduation, he hopes to continue working at MSU as a research technician.
Madison Rasch (Muskegon Community College)
Madison is receiving the Bernie Swindeman Memorial Scholarship this year. She is majoring in marketing at Muskegon Community College/Davenport University. She has worked for Helena Chemical, Summit Farms and Lakeside Orchards. After graduation, Madison hopes to use her degree to work for an agricultural company.
Tye Wittenbach (Michigan State University)
Tye is halfway through a 4 year degree in Agribusiness Management. In addition to work on the family farm, he has experience at the MSU Post-Harvest Research Lab and Wilbur-Ellis. Tye hopes his career leads through agricultural businesses and eventually back to the family farm.
